This policy explains what Scents by Alice (“we”) collects through this website, why, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers on this site.
What we collect
- Account details: your first name, email address and password. Passwords are stored by our authentication provider in hashed form; we cannot see them.
- Shopping details: what is in your cart, your orders, your delivery name and address, your order status and tracking, and the email address on your order.
- Preferences: the scent families you choose and whether you often shop for gifts. We use these to tailor the shop to you.
- Loyalty and subscriptions: your points balance and history, and your subscriptions (product, frequency, next charge date, status).
- Email list: your email address if you sign up for studio notes.
- Messages: anything you send us when you contact us.
We do not see or store your card number. Payments are taken on a page run by Stripe.
Why we use it
- To run your account and cart, take payment, deliver your order, and handle returns and support.
- To award and track loyalty points and to run subscriptions you start.
- To tailor the shop to your scent preferences and show past purchases for easy reordering.
- To send order and shipping emails, and studio notes only if you signed up for them.
- To keep the site secure, prevent fraud and meet tax and legal obligations.
Who else handles your information
We share only what each company needs to do its job:
- Our supplier and fulfilment partner receive your name, delivery address and the items ordered so they can ship to you. They may also need a phone number or email for the carrier if you provide one.
- Stripe processes payments, calculates sales tax and manages subscription billing under its own privacy policy.
- Supabase hosts our database and sign-in system.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Our email service provider sends order and shipping emails and, if you opt in, studio notes.
- Carriers and customs authorities receive delivery details needed to deliver your parcel.
- We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, customers or the public.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies: one keeps you signed in, and one remembers your cart before you sign in. Stripe may set its own cookies on its payment page. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes we will update this page and ask for your consent where required.
How long we keep it
We keep your account until you ask us to delete it. We keep order and payment records for as long as tax, accounting and legal rules require. Email list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.
Your choices and rights
You can update your name and preferences in your account. You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, or delete it by emailing [contact email to be added]. If you delete your account we remove your profile, cart and points; we keep anonymised order records we are required to keep. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's privacy law, including the right not to be treated differently for using them. We will respond within the time the law allows. To stop studio notes, use the unsubscribe link in any email or contact us.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections, restrict access to customer data to the people who need it, and rely on reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, email account holders.
